{"id":46,"date":"2009-08-03T12:35:53","date_gmt":"2009-08-03T04:35:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.happybonsai.com\/?p=46"},"modified":"2009-08-03T12:35:53","modified_gmt":"2009-08-03T04:35:53","slug":"my-first-bonsai-trees","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/happybonsai.com\/blog\/2009\/08\/03\/my-first-bonsai-trees\/","title":{"rendered":"My First Bonsai Trees"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I have joined the <a title=\"Hong Kong Institute of Lingnan Penjing\" href=\"http:\/\/life-is.com\/penjing\/v2\/index.php\/index.php\">Hong Kong Institute of Lingnan Penjing<\/a> recently (&#8220;Lingnan&#8221; means Southern style, and &#8220;Penjing&#8221; is bonsai in Chinese, and sorry guys, the Lingnan Penjing website is only in Chinese), and attended its mini bonsai class.  The class was good. I have learned a lot and met many bonsai enthusiasts in the class. And by the end of the class, each of us was given two bonsai trees. The one on the left is a Fukien Tea (\u798f\u5efa\u8336 in Chinese, aka Ehretia microphylla) and the one on the right is an Elm (\u6986\u6a39 in Chinese).  These photos were taken after I did all the cutting, pruning, and wiring.  The tree is wired only for the time being.  I will remove the wire once the shapes of the tree and its branches are established.
